Robert Armstrong was a prolific American actor best known for his commanding performances in adventure and action films of the 1930s and 1940s. His rugged charm and confident presence made him a natural fit for roles as reporters, adventurers, and military men.

Armstrongโ€™s most famous role came in 1933 when he starred as showman Carl Denham in the original King Kong. His line, โ€œIt wasnโ€™t the airplanes. It was beauty killed the beast,โ€ became one of the most iconic quotes in film history. He reprised a similar role in the sequel, Son of Kong, later that same year.
