Trigger, born Golden Cloud, was a palomino stallion who became one of the most famous animal stars in Hollywood history. Known as “The Smartest Horse in the Movies”, Trigger was the loyal companion and co-star of Roy Rogers in nearly every one of his classic Western films and television episodes.
Originally trained as a stunt horse, Trigger’s intelligence and charm on screen quickly elevated him to star status. He could perform more than 100 tricks, including bowing, counting, and even dancing. His on-screen bond with Roy Rogers captured the hearts of audiences during the 1930s through the 1950s.
After retiring, Trigger remained a beloved icon and was preserved after his death for display. He remains one of the most enduring symbols of the golden age of Westerns.
